Assessing this life

But can this be right?

Caught in the race

Don’t lose your place

Exist to create

Forced to stagnate

Generating wealth

Handed to someone else

Inured to the grind

Just killing time

Knaves are in charge

Line up or you starve

Many can’t feed

Nourishing greed

Obliged to partake

Perpetually, no break

Quest to find meaning

Repletion is fleeting

Survival the ambition

To creativity’s submission

Unable to break

Vile chains that they make

When you claw out some time

Xanadu wished to find

Yearning for some contentment

Zest for life, not resentment

About the Creator

Chris Walker

Fantasy/science fiction is my bread and butter, and I have been an avid reader of the genre for as long as I can remember. Inspired by the likes of R.A. Salavatore, Weiss/Hickman, and others, I think of my work as an homage to their legacy.
