Creating the Epic

It's a Process

Creating the Epic

The air is heavy,

muddy with yesterday's dust

and the stagnant pool of tears,

shed in anger and frustration

for what should

and should not have ensued.

Still, I write.

Hapless and alone,

foundering in a sea of words

spilled carelessly, chaotically.

Creativity anchors and envelops me.

Purpose braces me.

I stand like a stone, and

still, I write.

I am become Posiedon,

summoning the denizens of this deep.

Bending Kraken to my will,

bidding Merfolk gather,

guided by Amphirite's gentle hand,

to craft order from the chaos.

Rising from the settling seas,

I am become Zeus.

Sending Pegasus to gather clouds

of metaphor and meaning

to scatter on the waters below.

Gods, Titans and Olympians

stand ready on the page.

Impatient, anxious, they stir,

each ready to play a part,

but I, the writer, must find focus.

“Still,” I write.
