Crawling in my Skin

Powerless

Beneath the surface of the mirrored pane,

A stranger's gaze meets mine with silent plea.

In eyes that once were clear, now clouds of pain,

Reflect a soul ensnared, longing to be free.

The thoughts within my head, a tangled skein,

That binds me tight, a self-made tapestry.

Of doubts and fears, a never-ending chain,

That holds me fast, from my own grasp I flee.

I crawl within my skin, a captive wight,

Each move to break free, met with cold disdain.

The dread that sinks, as day gives way to night,

A shadow cast, my heart bears heavy stain.

Yet in this dark, a spark of hope may dwell,

A chance to break the spell, to bid farewell.
