cracking skies

a poem

thunder hurls itself forward

lightning following swiftly behind

the ground trembles in fear

in anticipation

the townsfolk cower

they shelter together, praying

for mercy

but preparing for devastation

the wind speeds angrily

a spiral whirling with vengeance

so strong it feels personal

preparing to touch down for a feast

the skies open up

and hell rains down

a bellowing noise

followed by silence

and then all at once

all at once, it is over

she is gone

satiated, for now

and the birds chirp once again
