Coursing Rough Waters
A Poem on Battling Overwhelm
We live in an age of instant gratification. Throw the stress of our daily routines into the mix, and we get a lot of overwhelm.
Answering constant emails. Preparing for that presentation. And to top it off, we'll need to prepare dinner for the family once we're home.
Rough waters threaten to consume all of us, and suggestions about how to process them do us a lot of good. Breaking tasks down, prioritising them, practicing self-care, and setting boundaries when necessary all help when rough waters threaten to drown us.
Enjoy this sonnet.
Coursing waters, rough and wild
Their waves lick and tease
Splashing, violent, we cannot go the mile
Do any task to please
Charting each wave, take it apart
Is how we win each over
Mark each wave first before we start
And when they lick, take cover
Rough waters, vast and deep
Hungry, wish to swallow
Of course, we want our souls to keep
Go to calm waters shallow
Coursing waters, deep and rough
To calm the tides, need not be tough.

So lovely with deep meaning. Love add Vocal to your list after emails etc. 😂😂
I love the metaphor of rough waters, it creates a powerful image.
That is great , though my rough waters is is something that I cannot even mention, but it is something I have to live with. Very powefully optimistic lines
This was so powerful and optimistic. Loved your poem!
