Cool Running

Brisk breeze nips at nose

Maple leaves curl and cartwheel

Pale sun rises late.

*

Parkrunning dad sprints

Pushing stroller downhill as

Toddler reads board books.

*

Meanwhile… puff, pant, plod

To Santana’s “She’s Not There”

I chase a Best Time.

*

Frosty dawns will soon

dissuade less committed crowds

Saturday mornings.

*

Wish I could read and run at the same time. It’s getting colder and I’m getting older! I’m trying not to pike on parkrun… miss one week — miss a month — or an entire season! Winter’s lurking, ready to pounce. Will this be my year of persisting through all seasons?
