Conversing With The Imposter
A sort of Mediative poem.

It's a constant struggle , fighting and wrestling
(Is it really necessary to say. fighting AND wrestling?)
...
Anyway, what was I trying to say? Oh yes, that's right, it's a constant depressing struggle, at times , dealing with the imposter, the asshole. The one that makes me question my every move . The imposter deep inside. Lurking there, reminding me
(Deep inside and lurking feel similar)
I am not really quite as good , As I think or believe I am . Even when people tell me I'm good
(They're obviously lying)
....
Can't you leave me alone for a few?
(Really, I'm here to protect you)
It doesn't feel like that
(Charming. You realise this piece...)
Don't say it
(...doesn't rhyme and the flow is off)
The flow would be better if you would butt out
(butt out? How would you survive?)
I'm sure I'd be fine, I'm sure I'd enjoy the peace
(What about the fire I stoke in you?)
The fire you stoke in me?
(Yes, the first I stoke in you . It motivates and drives your creativity)
I don't really see it that way
(This is why I am here)
To belittle and knock me down to make me great?
(How else are you going to meet your potential?)
With kindness and encouragement...
(Are you sure we're in the same head?)
I'm beginning to wonder, with what has been said
(See...now you've started rhyming)
I still don't like your constant chiming
(That's okay, I'm not here to be liked)
That's odd, I thought adoration got everyone psyched
(Not me, and might I say clever save there)
I am still not convinced really that you care
(Of course, I care, you're in charge of this ship)
I see, self-preservation is the basis of this friendship?
(What else would be? I am still not sure I like you)
Would you change your mind if I said I like you?
(I'd change my mind if you didn't do such lazy rhyming
Oh really? That's interesting, I'll bear that in mind
(that didn't even rhyme, a rhyme you didn’t even try to find)
I'm done with you, I've had enough with you
(The day you ignore me, you will soon rue)
That may be true, but really what can you do? After all, you're stuck in my head . I control the ship, as you already said . So, I can lock you up and throw away the key
(Wait...don't ignore me, you still need me)
Too late
(but...but...but...but)
The door to you imposter, is now shut
