Control Control Control

A poem

She controls what enters her mind,

Betraying

No clear signs

That she desires what is good.

It happens every time

I notice it, but what about the others around?

Do they see her writhing like a snake,

Struggling with every honest answer?

It is not a lack of words,

Though she constantly

Downplays her own capabilities,

Creating a false image of herself.

I must believe her words rather than the facts,

Even though the truth is that I see more:

I see words left unspoken for years,

Saved for another occasion.

Others can glimpse her truer self;

Perhaps she simply fears

Judgment should she bring herself to be sincere.

I judge her for her insincerity,

While I myself conscientiously confessed

What tormented my mind.

I do that no longer, it is a waste of time

When one side manipulates, secretly pulling

The strings for its own twisted gain.

There is nothing left to say;

Let silence reign forever.
