Standing at the mirror,
A nothingness,
Twirling between her fingers.
She wonders what is worse;
To be empty...
Or consumed.
In moments she lost her power,
Echos and fears direct her thoughts.
She knows.
Mountains lead to valleys,
Candles expose the shadows,
A frown lingers behind every smile.
She wonders what is worse;
To be empty...
Or consumed.
Rational squeezed out to make space,
Stretched and pushed between love and sadness.
This planet, a foreign land.
The faith she clutches swells and dwindles.
A bursting balloon,
A cloud weeps,
A heart, worn down with passion.
She swallows it down, all the heavy,
She swallows it down, all the joy,
She swallows it down, the fear of feeling.
She swallows it down as she wonders,
What is worse;
To be empty...
Or consumed.
