Connection

From Ashes to Ashes

Did you leave your footprint

In the sands of time

When you rise from the ashes

And cross that line

Down that long hall

Residing nature's path

Alongside

The sun and the moon

Awaiting

The awakening moment

Of the next bloom

Some journeys end

For others to begin

You learn to love

Life in the wind

Simple moments

Are treasured thoughts

Out of the heat

Where you can hear the universe

And its joyful beat

Friends with the stars

Because when the sun shines

They don't go very far

Just a little slumber

To glow all night

Showing us the answers

When everything

Seems out of sight

To go home

And make memories

That don't tear us apart

Back to the rising sun

Where we speak to the flames

To release all

Of our regretful remains

Back the ashes

From which they came

Kayton Hickenlooper

I write to clear my mind. To get out of the fog of daily confusion. An artist by heart. To live, laugh, and grow.
