they soak like tea
all the sounds from inside
the piano
red rug rapturous rumble
wooden stool coke with straw
knees bent around the circle
round clear glass vase with fish
fidgeting flimsy fumble
stiff white collars coloured bows
white socks hands arranged as if in prayer
bright light flooding through the windows
old cabinets and wardrobes
fake flowers rings and ribbons
making noise at midnight
red spiral tapestry
reflecting
the face and mood
of the player
red cushions red red red
ball thrown into the courtyard
squabble magic love making
not that simple
in slow motion picture
from the past
are you playing funny guy now?
is not real it will never be
we can just pretend
that this life makes sense
when it doesn’t
every sound
so marvellously played
it is not intended for us it will remain
in the background in the back of our heads
let’s celebrate
breaking union communion
all our senses
while the masterpiece is heard
– command in vain
