Concerning the Value of Stone

We spend most of our lives looking for a solid foundation, our rock if you will, not realizing all the precious gems we store in a leather pouch around the heart.

Some cut perfectly to enhance their natural beauty, others, still raw and sharp, painful to handle, even cutting down to the bone. But once the wounds have healed, one can see the value of keeping them in the collection.

Holding on to these more, rugged stones… you may one day crack them open, to reveal new and beautiful colors and patterns that may have gone unnoticed otherwise.

We all have our own satchel of stones to carry. It’s up to us to decide which of them we let weigh us down, keep hidden, or separate from the rest… And what gems we openly display, sharing their fluorescence with the world around us.

Realizing though, the necessity of both, for forging the tools we need to work and claw our way through this – strange, horrifyingly magnificent, and all to finite thing we call “life.”

Almost too small a word to capture the full scope of such an experience.
