Commitment
An ode to love and honest promises. For my significant other, happy two years loveliest.
They are the mystery and beauty of life itself
the beauty and doom of the surviving race
the images of spiritual purity which I believe is them
Sweet as nectar, golden and violet like the dawn
their body composed of constellations and
a product of destiny and
bursting nebulas of finite stardust
A rare and unexpected miracle sent from the
purest of stars and I always wonder why
Why they were placed in such a tender and perfect body,
why with a soul as intense and soothing as sunlight
and why we were meant to be
My human psyche hated anything to do with orange and
whether it be peaches or nectarines or sister’s skin, but
then I met you
Your aura is bright and nurturing Your
voice as smooth as the first bite of a fuzzy peach and
the juice runs down from the corners of my mouth and
past my jaw to consume my flesh and
I love all of it
The exhilarating feeling of warm sunlight on skin, a
bite of sweet honeycomb and the tingling sensation of
the thick viscosity seeping into your veins, the
first taste of a summer fruit, my reason to frolick
Soft and sweet words and all
the late lustful nights spent
on the phone with you
My life seemed to be
an endless spiral of the same
things that everyone had done before me
My ideals were pushed to become misty and
mother shaped me so my life was unclear
We’ve planted
a seed of commitment
to each other and to
our garden of heartaches and heartfulls
I focus on the pleasant present but
talk about the foreseen future and
ponder upon the prickling past and
here we are
Soft and warm and
together.
