Coming To
Photo by Mathew Schwartz on Unsplash

Every moment I refuse a respite, refuse to allow myself to

Calm my racing mind, to allow you to come back. I see you. Your words, your actions.

Little things such as the brush of your fingers through my hair,

Inching closer to whisper a secret, or driving to see me no matter what the hour or the location.

Picturesque performances obscured the harsh reality. You only shined when

Small pieces of me disappeared until I was hidden from the world.

Exposing your true self was the only thing that saved me; it was the only way for me to shine again.
