I.

THIS SHELL, NO MORE

II.

 To wake up

and see a glimmer of light

after years of trying

to knock down the mental

walls

I’ve built around me,

is a cause to break it down

some more,

until I’m free

to step outside

and take on the joys

and pain

of life.

III.

Can’t let this shell

around me

hold me from life.

Can’t stay inside

this shell

and rot in

my own strife.

IV.

No more!

No more!

V.

This light brings hope

and push, pull, tear

I’ll do

until it’s at

my feet,

and I am free.

VI.

THIS SHELL

no more.

No more.
