Comfort Is A Place

A Writing Challenge Entry

The view from the treehouse - image supplied by author

Comfort is a place.

Up off the ground,

Safe from life,

Calm creeps in.

To-do lists left behind

A bird hops

Leaves flutter -

The tree house.

Comfort is a place,

Where children play

In frothy foam

Building sandcastles

Surrounded by the roar

Where cold water

Meets hot sun -

The ocean.

Comfort is a place

Where pine trees stretch

And water lies still.

Away from the crowds.

Paths lead us to reflect,

Or skip a stone

along the shore -

At the lake.

Comfort is a place

With a welcome mat

And raucous laughter.

Where stories are shared

The air smells delicious

Surrounded by love

Our spirits lift.

Dinner with friends.

About the Creator

Anne Emerick

I love stories that bring comfort, inspiration or adventure. Stories carry feelings that are too scary to speak and spark actions in 'real life.'

An east-coast girl I also love hiking in the Rockies!
