A poem

Suffocating under expectations

and beneath the sounds of the city.

The same old drumbeat on repeat.

Distant lights are becoming less pretty.

-

I’ve lost my pathway these days,

I’m barely walking by now.

Old dreams shoved away by these

problems,

I can’t seem to

breathe with

these pains in my mouth.

-

Memorised codes for cheap meals, a paper

covered in problems.

It all feels too big for me currently,

an ant placed beneath

mile long rows

of

stone columns.

-

Sleepless nights and

nightmare-filled days,

a lack of direction,

glued into my ways.
