True Colours Comp. Poem

I put pen to paper

and turn all shades of suspended disbelief white

devouring the spectrum,

introspection erases what I’m labelled

it colours me the night…

Suspended in the greyness of disassociation

these words upon my page,

come all the more to life.

My 2B or not 2B charcoal

scratches scars into the white…

but all I see are rainbows

are the thundering’s of pride.

Chameleon honest

hypnotised mauve-trust

clairvoyant blindness, a double-edged tongue

What lives inside me?

the mettle of red—

melts into—orange promises.

The more I scrawl,

the deeper the clarity of the teal—

ripples that escape me

become steadily more real… than me.

I love it,

kaleidoscope serene.

What is it that colours me in?

sweet yellow daring

bleeds me into fumbling green anew!

And eyes open wider

owl-like, all the wiser

for asking questions, they quest for

things that others assume… to know.

Impractical charisma

sepia steeped confetti daring

Who wears my clothes?

blue masks of calm

adorn honest—purple eye of the storm!

This is me—it could be.

If I can tear myself from the page

—and into reality.

Make-believe-pink tickles my ink

Let onto parchment,

Indecision-yellow tinged.

can’t make up all the positions

I’ve sat myself in

and when I finally surface,

through the blue of the skin—

I’m wearing, all I could plot.

An armour.

A story I call mine—

I peacock.

There is one truth

I cannot disown

Why not wear it?

This resplendent gown

All shades of suspended disbelief

devouring the spectrum

Call this thing me.

Set pan to paper

and paper alight

from fire smoke arises

disassociation grey

A banner emerging in oil slicks

ascends on heat waves.

What lives inside me?

What is it that colours me in?

Who wears my clothes?

Kaleidoscope introspection of a colour-meleon...
