I saw the world in a plethora of colors.
Red, blue, purple, gold
Beautiful combinations, ever shifting and changing.
Always in conversation,
Shades so varied and complex I barely comprehended at times, but I always knew they were there.
Pink, silver, green, brown
But as I grew the world started to dim.
Trying to force me to submit to a world of only black and white, of only one or the other.
That only through the eyes of a child could one see rainbows.
Grey, black, white.
But I refused this world of monochrome.
I welcomed a world of color,
Where people didn’t have to be confined to one label,
Where our colors could fly free
And dance in the sky
Yellow, orange, bronze.
The world a painters palette
And every person a gorgeous creation.
