When I first opened my eyes, red was all I saw, blood red.
My eyes were immediately black- like the color of the abyss. They continued to change with years and are still changing today.
Purple- the color of my umbilical cord that had been cut and clipped from my mother.
Pink- the color of my skin at birth.
White, well more like ivory, the color of my skin now.
But, why the importance of the color of our skin?
Brown, Black, White?
Aren’t we ALL born, and remain, with the same color of BLOOD-RED?
Why do we have to continue to name ourselves a color? To try and put more importance on either white, black, brown?
One color mistreating the others? One color suppressed more than the others? One color receiving more assistance than others? One color hating another simply based on the COLOR of their skin? One color known as terrorists? One color infidels? Why, I ask myself?
Why do we continue to separate and divide OUR colors? We are ALL, blends of colors-our pigmentation! We are only dividing our population, our American community as a country.
Black Lives Matter? How about ALL lives matter?
We have to ALL, as a people, come together and treat each other with respect and dignity!
There are all colors of people lost everyday. Death, sucicide, murder. Car accidents, disease, cancer. Lives lived long and other lives cut way too short.
I look at the colors of everything! I see the beauty in every one!
The different shades of green, darker with shade and lighter by light.
The different colors of the skies. Reds, oranges, yellows, blues, purples and pinks.
The colors of the cars that drive past me.
The colors of the birds that fly by.
The colors of a rainbow.
The colors of the ocean.
The colors of wildflowers on the sides of the interstate.
The colors of the magestic mountains-green, blue and almost black the furthest away in the horizon.
The colors of hair.
The colors of lipsticks.
The colors of eyes.
The colors of the beautiful skins that I am blessed to see everyday.
See colors for what they truly are.... COLORS!
The colors of this glorious world, all beautiful, NOT colors that we are influenced to see as the colors of our skin!
We all bleed RED! The blood of Christ is in all of us-shed for us for our sins.
COLORS are just what they are COLORS!
