Colors Have No Gender

Don't Say They Do

pink and blue.

two colors.

two different meanings.

pink and blue.

girl and boy.

feminine and masculine.

weak and strong.

empathetic and apathetic.

feeling and unfeeling.

bad and good.

right?

wrong.

pink,

for girls

because girls need a color

to keep being a girl.

because a woman’s purpose

is in the house, cooking and

cleaning and such.

because a girl cannot

be strong,

mentally,

emotionally

or physically.

because women are

the weaker sex.

right?

wrong.

blue,

for boys

because pink can turn

them into terrible things,

like a feminine man,

or maybe a gay man,

or, the worst of all: a woman.

because one color can decide

your future,

your destiny for you.

because one color can turn you

into a despicable human being.

because being feminine is bad,

and being masculine is good.

right?

wrong.

black,

for bad people.

because black is terrible.

because black is the worst

thing ever.

because it convinces kids

to smoke and skip class.

because it tells people that

it’s okay to break the law.

because it shows people that

riding bikes without helmets

is inherently cool.

right?

wrong, you say this time.

but colors can affect a person

greatly, can’t they? i ask.

of course not, you reply.

exactly, i state.

pink and blue.

two different colors.

the same meaning.

a color and a color,

neither have any

significant whatsoever.

because a color cannot

affect a person,

cannot change them

and make them into a person

they’re not meant to be.

because they’re just colors,

with no significance,

whatsoever.

and, whether you like it

or not,

your child cannot change

because of a

stupid

fucking

color.
