Colorblind.

Your green is my gold.

My favorite color-

Same as your clothes.

I want to:

See the world through your eyes.

Know the world through that mind.

I want to know:

When you see my eyes,

Are they grey?

Do you see

A clean slate?

A fresh start.

I’ll take off.

The rose-colored glasses

on my heart.

But as I do,

it can’t be true.

I guess we’re colorblind,

both me and you.

You from the womb.

Me from the bottom from a bottle.

Makes sense now how this relationship

went 0-60, full throttle.

Tunnel visioned down its neck.

With everything clouded,

never gave a thought to what’s next.

Only drank it on dates,

with preexisting fates.

Everyone was doing it.

It seemed normal.

To numb.

Just enough.

Or so I thought.

But in reality,

with each ounce of courage

that I bought.

An attempt.

To feel something,

Anything beyond friend

within men.

But with my rose-colored glasses off,

I see clearly.

And for 20 years

nearly,

I’ve been sitting in a closet

Ignoring them.

My younger self

And all their dreams.

It’s dark in here

how couldn’t I see.

There’s a whole world out there

Waiting for me.

Where the only tint

In my vision,

Is a pink cloud.

In technicolor,

I can say it out loud.

My dreams come alive,

It’s only there I can thrive.

Turn the knob

I never thought I’d be here

But I’m so glad to see clear

Open the door

Into the light.

Wrapped in rainbow

In plain sight.
