ing, w-a-i-t-i-n-g

w.a.i.t.i.n.g for
picnics with bare skinned faces, breathe
in cobalt teal skies, mix
pink, purple, and blue with blunted scalpels, and dissect
whispers and glances only to say we don’t care, i-wait
for when i can hold your hand without hiding from your
community but for now, i-am
content with white
white, until we can fingerpaint orange skies and
public Instagram posts,
green planets and titanium stars will give way to
untamable hair and two buck teeth, pink is the color of
play, so i taste laughter on your
skin, light brown the color of joy, so i dig into the umber of your belly to
rest, as we watch how salmon crowns
the corners of our fingertips, while my cheeks pull
sunlight into dances and come out rosy, i blush
rubies and you cry sapphires, together we-paint
color theory
