Color

What is a color without seeing?

Is it hot and crackling flame?

The anger welling up within

Or the hot blush of shame?

What is a color without sight?

Cool water lapping the shore?

Is it the calm of sleep at night

Or the grief at my core?

What is a color without eyes?

Is it happiness from someone?

Is it the flash of cowardly demise

Or the warmth of the summer sun?

What is a color when you can't see?

The smell and sounds of springtime?

The feeling when one finds money

Or the taste of fresh squeezed lime?

What is a color when blind?

Is it the winter night's deep silence?

The feeling of a depressed mind

Or a licorice candy so intense?

Without sight what is a color?

The quiet chill of fresh fallen snow?

Creative potential of blank paper

Or emptiness inside that continues to grow?

What is a color without seeing?

Is it the taste of pumpkin pie?

The feel of autumn leaves falling

Or the crisp smell of the fall sky?

What is a color without vision?

Is it the smell of the fertile ground?

The taste of chocolate I indulge in

Or a steak's delicious sizzling sound?

What is a color without seeing?

The taste of chalky bubblegums?

How I feel when I can't stop laughing

Or the smell of blooming mums?

What is a color without the eye?

The taste and smell of a plum's skin?

Is it plush velvet against my thigh

Or the sensitive bruise on my shin
