Seeing Souls

My eyes nothing but a ruse

The physical is far beyond my view

Mirrors are wasted empty panes of glass

Lenses capture nothing but memories past

Looking into someone else's eyes

An intense experience for me

Because it's not your face

These green eyes see.

It’s your soul that glows beyond your skin

A tangible aura of the choices you live

Every vulnerable moment

you chose trust and love

Each time you were brave

Instead of giving up,

Every insult you swallowed

With silence and pride

Each failure you grabbed

And looked in the eyes

With a fierceness that

Left it terrified

A muse like fire

That’s burning inside

I can see each flame

Radiating sapphires

Mists of emerald

Brazen lemon limes

Flashes of ruby

Fireworks

Like candy to my eyes

These bodies are fascinating

But obsessed over irrationally,

Your soul is by far

The most beautiful thing

My eyes have never seen.
