Coffee in the morning

there are few things as comforting as coffee in the morning

Bonus points when it is a rainy day

And if I am answering back a text from my lover, while drinking coffee, it is even better

What a sweet start to the day

As I drag myself to work

As I try to prompt myself to be productive

And not wasteful

With all the usual promptings of “you need to do this, you have to do this, this is good for you”

Coffee makes this all easier

With its boost of artificial energy

Even better is when I don’t have to make it

The best is when someone else makes it for me and hands it to me lovingly

Or at least when I can use the espresso machine and create a fine drink

With no effort or social contact

I love when I can order ahead and avoid contact with cafe baristas also

This convenience is comforting also

With my morning coffee

And add a croissant, and voila! I’m golden

Ready to get through the day

To overcome any struggles

With that comforting start

With the warmth, aroma, and solitude

Of coffee. ❤️
