codependency

might i juxtapose your new repose

spring to life like a wild grove

find meaningless meaning in faith's trove

while you sink into despair?

.

yeah i'll move like a honeybee would

seeking pollen on the backs of your moods

(like you're a flower that's wilting soon)

then i'll take to the air!

.

oh puzzle piece, oh sad/joy pie

i may never fully understand why

one of us drinks the rain from the sky

so the other can repair.

.

as if each life has a happiness tax

and we're filing jointly to cover that

traveling farther away on the same track—

is this burden ever there?

.

surely soon again i'll be unwell

and like the tolling of a bell

you'll hear lost inspiration swell...

this duality's unfair.

Gorgeous, Morgana. Every single line is just gorgeous. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I really loved "i may never fully understand why, one of us drinks the rain from the sky, so the other can repair." Beautifully done!

As ever, a wonderful poem. I love how it winds together as though in eb and flow it compliments the subject perfectly. The 4th stanza is my favourite. Had me grinning from ear to ear. Congratulations on the top story. 🥰

Codependency often emerges in relationships when individuals rely excessively on each other for validation, identity, and emotional well-being. In codependent dynamics, one person's sense of self becomes intertwined with the other's, leading to a cycle of enabling and neediness. This can hinder personal growth and autonomy, fostering emotional imbalance. Addressing codependency requires self-awareness, setting boundaries, and cultivating individual identities. Just like debugging code, identifying and rectifying these patterns is crucial for healthier connections, fostering interdependence rather than reliance. Remember, strong relationships are built on mutual support and respect, allowing each person to flourish independently while sharing a meaningful bond. https://simplified.com/templates

I so much love this, my favorite is one of us drinks the rain from the sky, so the other can repair

  • Oh dear goodness...This right here! I thought I wanted to quote the opening lines until I got to the middle stanzas and my brain just took a screenshot of every word, every line, every rhyme, every feeling, every thought. You have definitely lived life, and I can relate. Congratulations on Top Story!

Holy smokes this is outstanding. "seeking pollen on the backs of your moods" 🤦‍♂️ "oh sad/joy pie" 🤯 "as if each life has a happiness tax and we're filing jointly to cover that" 👏 Unreal, Morgana. Your language is exquisitely dense yet still somehow completely accessible. Truly remarkable. The insights you point to in this piece resonate with truth and clarity -- a further accomplishment, considering the nature of your topic is so foggy by definition. Bravo on this beautiful, heartbreaking work. Thank you for sharing this piece of yourself with us. 💙

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. How each of my triumphs means someone was defeated, and how in order for someone else to shine, I must be cast into the shadows. I do think we take turns playing supportive roles in each other’s dreams, and I think whoever dreams the biggest is the star of the moment. And ultimately, this is progress for the human race as a whole. You said so much in these few lines, and I admire that. My favorite: “as if each life has a happiness tax and we're filing jointly to cover that” Congrats on your Top Story! 🥂

This was beautiful but also a little saddening, with the idea that one's happiness costs the other theirs... The line "as if each life has a happiness tax" hit a different cord with me! Beautiful written and concisely said! Congrats on Top Story Morgana!
