I danced away in my dreams

Nobody was in my arms but I still danced

Eyes closed, I glided across the dance floor

Letting the wind guide my steps

As I had found solace in it’s hollowness

A hollowness that echoed back the emptiness of my existence

And as the drums of loneliness drowned out the space beside me, I screamed and hollered

Willing the universe to echo back my pain

But in the end I was alone

I danced away in my reveries

Nobody was in my arms but I still danced

The world was calm as the emptiness in my soul guided me across the dance floor

Five, six, seven, eight, my spirit spirited away

One wrong step and my mind exploded

My confidence quickly faded into apprehension

And as I rushed off the stage, I relived a struggle well tucked away in my essence

All those eyes that have haunted my existence resurfaced to punish me with their disdain

So I retreated to my cocoon like the coward I am

To safely hang in my wall of loneliness

Because in the end, I was alone
