Cobwebs in the Corner

Day 23/365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I tell everyone who asks

”I’m fine”

but there is a room

full

of unopened boxes

and dusty shelves

full

of unread books.

They keep the curtains drawn here

so no one can see

the reality

of forgotten things

and I cannot help but think

”such a waste

of beautiful space”

It wasn’t supposed to be.

These bare walls

should be painted

Emerald green

and wearing

the jewels of memories

but the floor boards

moan

a lonely cry

as I alone stand here

quietly observing

the growing

cobwebs in the corner

against the cold

millennial gray

walls
