Clouds
Day 18 of 50 days of senryu inspired by songs
I've not done one of these for a few days because I've been concentrating my publishing on challenge entries.
I was going to do a classic song, but over the last few days I've fallen in love with a new British band called unpeople, who are just awesome. Their album We Are unpeople was released today and is already in my top ten of the year. The band sound sincere, look like the coolest misfits, and dance between subgenres of rock and metal with purpose.
They also know how to write a memorable chorus.
Just delightful. Despite the heaviness of the lyrics at times, there's an unsuppressed joy in the music that has made me smile like an idiot every single time.
Here is my senryu inspired by their single and the opening track of their debut album, Clouds:
Pressure to succeed
Forced into easy boxes
Blow the clouds away

Thanks for reading!
This is inspired by Alyson Smith's challenge to write a haiku a day for 50 days, inspired by songs and lyrics that are special to her.
This is Day 18 for me.
Please check out some of the many other people taking part in this challenge, some of whom have already finished.
