Closure

I’m sorry

Closure

I’m sorry you’re not who you pretended to be.

I’m sorry I confused your silence for peace.

I’m sorry you called my strength “control,”

When I was carrying what you wouldn’t hold.

I’m sorry I kept the door cracked open wide,

While you stood comfortable on the other side.

I’m sorry I asked for crumbs like they were grace,

And called survival “love” to save face.

I’m sorry I made myself small to stay,

I’m sorry I learned too late I was never the priority anyway.

I’m sorry I stayed loyal while you watched me break,

I’m sorry I gave more than you’d ever take.

But I’m not sorry for choosing me,

For walking away so I could finally breathe.

I’m not sorry for reclaiming my voice and standing my ground,

Or leaving behind what kept dragging me down.

You don’t get access, you don’t get my pain,

You don’t get to call this loss your gain.

I’m taking my peace; this is me setting it free,

Not an apology; this is closure for me!
