You keep it close to your heart,
that thing which you should share.
When you are asked what it is that you hold,
you insist it isn't there.
It ties you down and holds you back from the places you could go,
Yet you let it stay and have it's way but rarely let it show.
It starts as just a whisper, in a voice you recognize.
In the pit of your stomach it flutters first and then it starts to rise.
You push it down, you hush its voice, but don't stop it in its tracks
and before you know you feel it again, it's worming its way back.
Don't keep it close to your heart, that thing that you should name.
Call it out, question its tricks and you will win its game.
