I shut the door
Then took a step
Pausing for awhile
And in that pause
Hesitation’s claws
Took from me the why
I turned around
Without a sound
And placed my hands to open
Memories swirling, telling lies
About what’s on the other side
With one quick tug it opened up
And took from me my breath
For all that I had left behind
Were the weights the past me kept
And when I could no longer bare
The heavy darkness in my core
I put them down and walked away
I even closed the door.
