Author's Notes
If a friend confided in you that they were lying to someone to protect them, but you knew the truth would eventually cause that person deep pain, and they asked you to keep it a secret, what would you do? Could you stay silent, knowing the harm their actions might cause? What would be the right thing to do in that situation?
A Crown Cinquain is a sequence of five cinquain stanzas functioning to construct a larger poem. The syllabic count for each stanza 2-4-6-8-2. The last line of the previous cinquain stanza is repeated as the first line of the next cinquain stanza. The final line of the last cinquain stanza does not have to equal the first line of the first cinquain stanza, but it is an option.
