The caterpillar wound the womb
To sleep inside her silk cocoon
In hibernated sleep to rest
In hibernation's sweet caress
She dream't of blue and cloudy skies
Of morning dew and fireflies
The moon and stars
And birds that sing
That morning dew upon her wing
The hummingbirds and bees and ants
The luscious leaves of garden plants
The sun so bright that warms the air
The twilit eve's unguarded glare
Where shadows hide within the night
And bugs unfurl to seek the light
She dream't of awe and nothing more
She dream't one day she would soar
For now she sleeps in her warm cocoon,
Alone to dream and none too soon,
In hibernated sleep to rest
In hibernation's sweet caress..
