Not a bird flew in the sky

Last Christmas Eve,

Not a bird flew in the sky,

Not a family walked by.

Not a cat prowled the street,

Not a child wanted a treat.

There was no cloud in the sky,

There were no stars that night.

Last Christmas Eve,

The world was in silence.

Last Christmas Eve,

Our hearts were silent too.

In silence there was joy,

On the birth of the new born boy.

Last Christmas Eve,

Not a soul walked the silent street,

There were no friends to meet.

Last Christmas Eve,

There were no gifts around the tree,

There were no choirs singing,

There were no church bells ringing.

Last Christmas Eve,

Is a sad memory for children,

There were no gifts and no joy,

On the birth of the tiny boy.

Last Christmas Eve,

We all wish to forget,

With its sadness and its regret.

Last Christmas Eve will remain,

Locked in the portals of time,

Never to return to humanity again.
