We often fail to remember,
but it’s a short journey —
a limited stay on this earth.
We must allow ourselves
joys, despite the struggles.
Things fall apart,
plans don’t go as we thought,
still, we need to be happy.
Despite my strong academics,
I don’t hold a plum job.
Nobody came to support me
as I went through,
two complicated pregnancies.
Childcare was alone too.
My father passed away
before holding my kids,
in his loving lap.
The duty of raising kids,
to adulthood, on my shoulders.
But I am not going to,
cancel on happiness
I will glean as much, as I can.
