feels like my necks in a noose

and time ticks on the line

feeling dazed and confused

as chills creep up my spine

choking on the fear

every muscle is tight

my future is unclear

from what is waiting outside

a chokehold captures my words

and my voice box is the vice

footsteps closing in, I’m concerned

that I won’t get out alive

sweat drops flow, though I’m chilled

my teeth are threatening to rattle

my sense of wellbeing killed

by this unending battle

that rages within

causing me to cry out

my sanity wearing thin

but no sound escapes my mouth

will it all go away

if I refuse to acknowledge

can I survive one more day

from this formidable carnage
