If you could plan your life

to the last detail

Chart the course you sail

with blue skies all the way.

Would you be content

with only calm seas?

For I woner at life's gifts

that come in unexpected ways.

How can you know relief, without the pain

or utter joy without sadness?

How can you know peace without the storm

or see the rainbow without first, the rain?

The sun shines so much brighter

after the darkest storms.

I'd chose the rougher path

with all its pain

Cause it brought me to you

my greatest gift by far.

I wouldn't trade a day

one memory, one kiss.

Even though we've parted

and you're at peace.

I'll remember all the good times, and none of the bad,

the funny things, and not the sad.

I'll treasure your words, and not your tears.

Remember your smile, not your pain.

Though our time was short,

your memory lives on in me.
