My Garden

By Laura L. W. SpruillPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Enter my garden

What do you see?

Enter my garden

You will find me

I am the colors

The colors are me

Deep brown earth is my skin

As it rolls flat and into mounds

It nurtures life into seedlings

Planted in my ground

Rich deep browns

Able to mold the plants like clay

Rich deep browns

Will invite you to stay

My skin is the earth

The earth is my skin

It traveled across oceans long ago

And brought its hue to the pale and bronze land

I’m often hidden

Under the leafy colorful produce I make

While I hide I protect and warm the roots

I support, I love

From above I caress

I’m dry, I’m moist

I bring forth life nonetheless

Stare in awe of my deep brown skin

Get lost in its warmth while enjoying the sweetness therein
