Chiang Mai

The nostalgic feeling in a land that is not my own...

The sunlight

The cool breeze

The smell of jasmine and summertime

These are the memories of my childhood

My charmed life, long since passed

Flooding back to me in this strange land

As if these were the same streets I’d raced my bike down

As if this were the same town I lived in with my brother

Watching him ahead of me

I trust him completely

It’s a weird sense of protection and confidence I have with my brother

Something I feel with no other person

He is something to me that no one else could ever be

Heat and sweat roll off my shoulders

For a moment, I feel the stresses and worries of my troubled mind roll off with it

But now I’m home

In the cooling air, on my bed with cost-effective sheets

It sets in again

I’m trapped in the endless aisles of the library of my mind

I’m in a dark corner

Lost, but I’m not afraid

I feel the twinge of exhaustion pulling at the corner of my eyes

Childhood flashbacks in the Thailand heat are still lingering

This undefinable adoration for my brother: still ever present in the forefront of my mind

Traveling

Endless traveling

Weary traveler
