If only his grin were as true
As his thoughts,
For beneath all the teeth
I Bet he hurts lots
And maybe if Alice had asked how he's feeling
Her words might've opened his heart.
You see,
Many have seen all the wondrous things
From
Mad Hatters
And Rabbits with clocks.
But I'm willing to bet that the Cheshire Cat
Purred and charmed as you walked.
He was your confident,
Your fairweather friend
Whose smile would surely
Fade away in the end
And even though walking alone might be
Frightening
He gave you his courage to lend.
He told you,
He did,
It mattered not where,
It mattered not where you would go.
Lest you go somewhere to hatter or hare
(Both mad, he must have you know).
His directions were vague
His smile opaque
But with whom else would you rather converse?
Treat him with kindness and he'll
Be your friend,
He's the Cheshire Cat of course!

And so is reading,
I find Shakespeare worth repeating. ๐
