Native American isn’t the first word

that pops into your head

when you see me.

The blonde hair and blue eyes

might tempt you

to call me Karen.

Grave mistake.

Too busy carin’

to ever be Karen.

While you wonder how much

SPF I need to keep from burning

my German, Swedish, British skin,

my blood is rebelling, or at least

one sixteenth of it is:

My bones contain molecules

that will always remember

and never forget

Oklahoma!

and how my people got there.
