A ghazal

Walking down the streets of Pripyat near Chernobyl

From mankind abandoned buildings, poor Chernobyl

.

Left within two hours of time to never return

‘The Division Bell’ in mind, poor old Chernobyl

.

Families on the run, Jupiter left to burn

A military factory built, near Chernobyl

.

Monuments of a cold war, they’ll never return,

The damned boys and girls of Pripyat, near Chernobyl

.

White snow’s covering what men created to burn

Palace of Culture – cursed to death, poor Chernobyl

.

Walking down the streets of Pripyat near Chernobyl

From mankind abandoned buildings, cursed Chernobyl!
