What if when you look you see

Last goodbye is gone already?

For as you gazed over suspiciously,

You caught me dreaming of holding another steady.

Honeyed eyes turned into the hard grey of rock,

Taking in the measure of her, then me; taking stock.

Will you miss this voice in the dusk?

And the words you thought had no melody?

Till then we were a long way from separation or sad departure,

But that lingering look told you enough to be sure.

Heard your laugh in the full moon nights.

But she smiled, flirted, preened herself, a peacock on display,

I was pulled into her orbit as if her gravity had magnetic sway.

I fell lost in a chemical reaction intoxicated,

It felt to me like I was slowly and giddily inebriated,

I regret it's cold fact to you enough to chill your bones,

Whilst I'm melting in warm ideas and pheromones.

Who will help you find your way home?

I lost you the moment I looked and you saw the truth of it,

We're beyond goodbye and love - with my cheating glance our love was slit.

My deceit severed ties to you, cut the umbilical cord,

Knowing instantly, but neither of us had said a word,

This time there'll be no moon light,

Hands are gone that held you tight.
