Chasing shadows of happiness

Does it even exist?

By Simon GeorgePublished about a year ago 1 min read

Happiness is a feeling that defeats me

An illusion that only I can't see

There's a feeling stirring inside of me

A dark cloud I've repressed for as long as can be

Every day I feel it taking over me

If not, before too long, it will control all of me

Nobody seems to notice

They walk by unaware, with happiness on their lips and love in their eyes

But they can't see me

I barely exist on their plain

I'm drifting ever further away

It's a life I fear I'll never see

It's almost out of reach for me

Happiness seems so rare to me

Is there someone out there willing to bring it to me?

I don't think I have the strength to find it within me

Because that's where I've been told it should be
