charged

on the surface

it hovers in periphery

never in full sight

in daylight

asks questions vague,

rhetorical

never yes or no

always may and might

it hums in gap between the states

of sleep and wake

of here and there

unveils dreams true

more of ‘em fake

creeps into silence

roots in prayers

it flickers on your skin and under

fills the air

and swallows wind

right before the light and thunder

erupts in sinner’s mind

it grins

takes your sight and common sense

it crawls up your spine

surrenders you

when shadows stretch

at solstice night

fern flower glows

eyes can lie

mistakes fully justified

it crackles at your fingertips

that land on skin

imperfect

bare

trails bottom edge

of piled up skirt

joint breaths

composers of the fireworks
