Changing Skies

Poem

She heard a sandy sound

in the far distance

then traveled

like lightening

through blue and black skies to understand this sound.

She landed with a soft thud

upon the earth.

He was there

Standing in the infinite light

of love

Union

without a border

without a wall

without a doubt

bliss and complete understanding

until she

walked backwards

in time.

In an instant

the tender blue sky

filled with a million

black feathered birds

blocking out all light

Blackbirds filled with red blood in their hearts.

She and he cried until dark rivers flooded their borders

metallic thunder pounded their ears deaf

dispair drowned their breath

and then silence

for five hundred and twenty full moons.

In a blue green fog

they awoke to the singing

of small yellow birds

to the dancing of light upon a quiet beach.

Again in the distance

they heard a very tiny sound.

Was it bubbles in a tall glass?

Or pebbles rolling roundly on the beach?

It got closer

and more rumbly

They both burst out laughing tender pink petals

fallig from their breath

and then

rising to the sky

To the infinite understanding

of the buoyancy

of this love.

About the Creator

Rickie Dean

They thought the world was drifting

falling free in orbit space

each wanting to claim it as their own

they stuggled to unite the human race.

Race is the pace that we count time by

Race is the measure of you and I.
