Chance
An Uneasy Relationship and a Struggle with Addiction

I wanted to hear you say those words
Tell me you love me, we're done with the worst
I was there for you, I went through hell
I believed in you when they said you'd fail
Where were you when I was at my worst?
Screaming for help, you laughed at my curse
I'm struggling now, beginning to drown
And where are you but nowhere around?
I fought for you, deafened your name
You kicked me down and played your games
I've been here before, I've felt this pain
You close the door as I call your name
I know it's my choice, it's all on me
But where would you be if I'd done the same?
I question myself, am I this weak?
Countless times keeps me on my knees
I'm begging for mercy, help me please
Am I alone down here? Can't you hear my screams?
I'll pick myself up like I have in the past
But how long until you come knocking?
Wanting me back?
You fool me with charm, I believe you again
But perfection is an illusion
Even high I know that
You expect so much, but give so little
I'll be lost again soon, and stuck in the middle
If I stop this now I can turn it around
Find the strength in myself to figure it out
I'll try I swear, as hard as I can
Pick myself up, alone I will stand
It will be alright, my life will change...
Then a knock at the door..
And it all falls away
