Champagne and Chips
The best meal, if served on 2 slices of buttered Bread

Champagne and Chips
Champagne bubbles filled the glass,
While bags of chips were on the table as we passed,
It wasn’t fancy, it wasn’t grand,
But somehow it was just what we had planned.
No silver plates, no velvet chairs,
No expensive food or millionaire affairs,
Just something cold and something salty,
And laughter that could make the whole night naughty.
The champagne sparkled underneath the light,
The chips disappeared throughout the night,
We talked about everything and more,
And laughed until our sides were sore.
Sometimes you don’t need a fancy place,
Or expensive food upon a plate,
You just need someone who can make you smile,
And stay beside you for a little while.
We raised our glasses to the night,
Watched the bubbles rise in little flights,
And shared the chips between us all,
While listening to the evening call.
The world outside could wait until tomorrow,
Tonight there was no room for sorrow,
We had our little feast of fun,
And didn’t care what anyone had done.
Champagne and chips, a strange affair,
But somehow magic filled the air,
Because happiness isn’t always found,
In the richest places all around.
It can be sitting at a table,
With whatever food you’re able,
With someone laughing by your side,
And nowhere else you need to hide.
So here’s to nights that aren’t planned,
To simple pleasures close at hand,
To fizzy glasses, salty treats,
And unexpected happy feats.
Because one day when memories return,
It’s not the price tag that we learn,
It’s who was there, and how we felt,
And all the laughter that was dealt.
So pour the champagne, pass the chips,
Let laughter fall from smiling lips,
For life’s best moments sometimes start,
With very little, but a very full heart.
